The Curious Savage
“The Curious Savage” is the debut play by Elwood’s own Duck Creek Players. (directed by Karen Smith) The Curious Savage is the story of an elderly widow named Mrs. Savage, whose husband has left her $10 million dollars. She intends to give the entire fortune away to people who wish to pursue their “foolish dreams,” but her stepchildren strongly object. To prevent her from doing away with their family’s wealth and ruining their legacy, they have her committed to a sanatorium called The Cloisters, and it is among the gentle residents there that she finds her true family. The Curious Savage is a warm comedy that compares the kindness and loyalty of psychiatric patients with the greed and hostility of so-called “normal people.”
You Can't Take it With You
A play performed by The Attic Theatre (directed by Emily Smith) One of the most popular and successful plays of modern times, being one of the 10 most-produced plays every year since amateur rights came available in 1939. At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder.
An Evening of Celtic Music and Dance **POSTPONED - STAY TUNED FOR NEW DATE**
NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED, WE WILL ANNOUNCE A NEW DATE SOON. STAY TUNED!
Stephanie Cadman is that rare, extraordinary thing: a quadruple threat. A world-renowned dancer, an accomplished actress of stage and screen, a celebrated violinist, and a great singer, Stephanie’s talents know no bounds. Stephanie’s stirring fiddle has also been featured in Bowfire, the dynamic all-violin stage show. Along the way, she has appeared as a fiddler and tap dancer with symphonies across North America including the Kennedy Center’s National Symphony Orchestra. Opening for Cadman will be local dancers Gabby Morrison and Clark Rulon.
"See You Again Tour" with The Gray Havens
The Gray Havens centers around husband/wife Dave and Licia Radford. Since their beginning in 2013, their projects have been hailed as “an imaginative treatment of faith…[having] a visionary quality that’s both playful and enraptured.” Their newest release, Ghost of a King, debuted at #3 on the iTunes singer-songwriter charts.
Comedy Night Featuring Taylor Mason and John Branyan
Featuring Dave “The King” Wilson as master of ceremonies. Mason is known for his versatility and his “clean” comedy. He is a master of strand-up comedy, musical comedy, and comedy through the timeless art of ventriloquism. It is difficult to find an event that will entertain everybody in the family. Branyan is also known for his family-friendly humor and is featured on nine recorded comedy projects with people like Ken Davis, David Jeremiah, Ted Cunningham and Tim Hawkins.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
A play performed by The Attic Theatre Youth Troupe (directed by Rebecca Roy). Laughs abound in this bestselling Christmas classic by Barbara Robinson! The Best Christmas Pageant Ever follows the outrageous shenanigans of the Herdman siblings, or “the worst kids in the history of the world.” The siblings take over the annual Christmas pageant in a hilarious yet heartwarming tale involving the Three Wise Men, a ham, scared shepherds, and six rowdy kids.
Comedy Night featuring James Johann and Mickey Housley
Along with Dave “The King” Wilson as master of ceremonies, we open our season with an evening of clean comedy. Johann has appeared on Comedy Central, CMT, Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. He is a fan favorite at Dry Bar Comedy. His self-deprecating sense of humor and high-energy style all come together to create a unique onstage persona. Housley performs around the country and his show can be summed up as animated, witty and full of self-depreciation fueled by a childhood of peer-depreciation.
